Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Description:
Location: Wayne, NE/ Kewanee, IL/ Huntsville, TN/ Terra Haute, IN
Duration: Fulltime

Manager is looking for a higher profile candidate who has experience leading a group in to a new Lean direction. He needs a person with strong experience managing people.

Key Requirements:
- BS or BA in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineer or related degree required
- MBA degree a plus
- 5-10 years minimum prior experience supervising a technical/engineering work force.
- Proven skill in implementing Lean Manufacturing, developing manufacturing strategy as well as the ability manage multiple projects, set and maintain priorities, track and achieve results in a fast-paced environment required.
- Ability to Line Balance, Establish Quality requirement, implements standardized work and design Lean workstations required.

Additional Requirements:
- Experience in Control Plans, PFMEAs, fixture design desirable.
- Possesses the ability to lead and direct a skilled work force to manage budgets and achieve manufacturing metrics.
- Must have ability to manage and improve overall equipment effectiveness.
- Knowledgeable in skilled trade requirements and able to instruct/teach employees on the job.
- Electrical, mechanical, fluid power, welding, fabrication skills, HVAC knowledge a plus
- Capable of conveying technical information/issues to management.
- Knowledge in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems
- Use multiple computer programs (i.e., Word, Excel, Projects, Power Point, and Publisher)
- Ability read/interpret technical information/drawings and convey information to other employees and vendors.
- Operations Management, general management and cross functional experience in product design engineering and/or quality desired.

Job Summary
The Manufacturing/Facility Engineering (ME) Manager function is to manage all aspects of current manufacturing engineering activities including, defining the state of operations, defining standardized work, design processes, define machine loading, managing process control plans, management of machine tool functions including tool and fixture design and NC programing etc. The ME manager will also support continuous improvement through LEAN and will be responsible for managing the improvement process in his/her own organization as well as supporting the plant wide improvement process and establishing new baselines after improvement is made and validated. Within the ME plant organization, the ME Manager will create a framework for defining and running projects and will devise metrics aligned with operational and business unit’s goals to monitor trends and make appropriate managerial adjustments.

Managing a team that includes a maintenance supervisor(s) and manufacturing engineers to support these mfg. engineering and LEAN/continuous improvement activities the team will initiate and support projects to enhance worker safety, improve quality, improve production throughput and reduce or control costs. These projects will involve interface with internal skilled tradesmen, outside contractor, and corporate manufacturing engineering resources which will be developing future and strategic projects.

In daily operations the department will be responsible to develop and maintain standardized work instructions, perform line balance and other classical manufacturing/industrial engineering functions. Manage repair and maintenance stores to meet operations requirements. Track and report equipment reliability, repair, and maintenance cost. Develop, propose and implement energy savings projects. Maintain a safe and environmentally sound work place.
