Manufacturing Machining Specialist

Description:
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
Develops solutions to variety of complex and unusual problems that require independent judgment and ingenuity to modify procedures standards related to installation, operation and maintenance of highly technical and specialized machines. Work is accomplished under limited direction and completed work is reviewed for results.

Responsible for the complete set-up and operation of machine(s) for production; responsible to provide tool preparation instruction and validates set-up performed by lesser skilled Stakeholders.

Observes operation of machine(s) on trial run to prove programmed instruction. Searches for process improvements to utilize machine(s) more effectively

Regulates machining by utilizing machine instrumentation knowledge; setting and adjusting controls, making edits at controller in situations of machine failure (cutter, drill, etc.); reads and interprets programming code to ensure proper operation of machine(s) and product outcomes.

Meets production deadlines by following manufacturing schedule and procedures and identifies and communicates opportunities to improve manufacturing processes in support of efforts to increase standardization, reduce costs, reduce cycle times, improve safety, etc.

Responsible for inspecting parts for conformity, troubleshooting and resolving errors when they occur acting in capacity of subject matter expert (SME).

Performs troubleshooting and maintenance on machine(s), performs calibration checks daily; identifies and relates repair needs to maintenance and/or leader, as required; maintains a safe working environment by utilizing established safety standards and procedures and keeping work area clean.

Provides on the job training and oversight to lesser skilled Stakeholders on product requirements, machine operation, inspection techniques and other department operations.


Ancillary Functions and Responsibilities:
May provide administrative and technical leadership over other Stakeholders in the department. Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications other than the primary assignment.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Technical Bachelor level degree in Engineering or the sciences or equivalent and ten (10) to fifteen (15) or more years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Extensive experience in operating manufacturing machines including CNC lathe, mill drill, grinding machine, CNC mill machine and deburring; experience using probing packages for tool set-up and part inspection. Aerospace and composite machining experience required
