Senior Level Technical Writer 1

Senior Level Technical Writer 1
(US Citizenship Required*)
Taunton, MA

• Work on the Warfighter Information Network - Tactical Increment 2 Post Deployment Software Support (WIN-T Inc 2 PDSS) program.
• Create, develop, plan, write, and edit complex operational, instructional, interactive electronic technical manuals (IETMs), maintenance or test procedures for paper, multimedia or web-based publication
• Interview various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation
• Research and translate technical information into manuals and/or web-based documents for nontechnical and technical users
• Acquire subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals
• Produce products that conform to company documentation and quality assurance standards
• Provide recommendations and ideas to technical documentation team, project leads, management and the customer on best work practices, workflow, presentation, structure and organization of materials
• Develop new work processes and methods using existing authoring tools, new authoring tools and 3rd party plug-ins in order to improve work process efficiency and overall quality of customer deliverables
• Document engineering processes and specifications by editing software developer and engineering staff notes and procedures
• Apply formatting to support writing/publication of hardware and software test procedures, white papers, readme files, etc.
• Proactively inform management and project leads of project status or concerns, including issues of scope, schedule
• Ensure accurate preparation of documents for interim and final delivery to customer by creating and preparing materials (agendas, etc.) to facilitate manual validations and verifications with the customer
• Travel may be required
• Works under very limited supervision and no instruction on day-to-day work
• Expert use and application of standard principles, theories, concepts, and techniques
• Provide resolutions to an assortment of problems of highly complex scope
• Use judgment within defined practices and procedures
• Subject matter expert (SME) in one discipline/field and with working knowledge in adjacent disciplines/fields
• May require experience with marking and labeling classified documentation/designs

• Able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
• Proficient with Adobe FrameMaker
• Able to resolve complex issues in creative, effective ways
• English language skills including accurate definitions and spelling of relevant technical words, rules of composition, and grammar
• Written communication skills: able to effectively communicate with the target audience
• Able to research and interpret data
• Strong working knowledge of DoD MIL Standards and style guides; able implement such standards to technical documentation
• Knowledge of publication systems
• Time management and organizational skills; can manage complex tasks from kick off to delivery
• Customer interface skills and sensitivity to customer satisfaction
• Strong communications skills with teammates, direct management, program management, engineering/technical staff
• Exert in several areas of the job (i.e. production tools, projects, DoD MIL STD, IETMS, etc.)
*US Citizenship is required by law, regulation, executive order, or government contract.

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, or related area is required plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
