Material Estimator - FL

Chipton Ross is seeking a Material Estimator for an opening in Jupiter, FL.

This Pricing and Estimating position will work concurrently with Program & Proposal Management (PM), Supply Chain (SC), Engineering, Operations and Contracts. -Contributes to produce accurate, responsive, compliant and on-time cost proposals. Reports to the Manager, Material Estimating. Contributes in developing and costing the Bill of Materials (BOM) for the Pricing and Estimating organization in support of client proposals to our customers and in compliance with FAR/TINA and client estimating standards and procedures. Responsible for estimating and costing development and production type BOM's with moderate degrees of complexity and risk including utilizing appropriate methodology and rationale. Work is performed under limited direction of more senior estimating team members to determine approach to objectives, demonstrating an understanding and application of basic principles, concepts and practices. May provide guidance to and check work of less senior estimators on mechanics of tasks and strategies employed.

(85%) Material Estimators generally perform the following in support of the cost Proposal:
Reads and understands RFP requirements and understands ground rules/assumptions used in proposals.
Works with Engineering, SC and Manufacturing to obtain the latest BOM to initiate the estimating process Works with PM, Engineering and SC to determine BOM requirements based on the statement of work including tooling, test units, spares or any materials not identified on the latest BOM.
Works with functional areas to identify excess material attrition/scrap factors Identifies current quote requirements in order to achieve 80% or more of the Proposal BOM (PBOM) value if required.
Coordinates with SC Material Program Managers (MPM) in the supplier quote process Coordinates with SC Material Planners the availability of inventory for material transfers and inventory valuation.
Reviews quotes received and populate the PBOM Incorporates escalation and quantity variance curve factors and extended costs for required quantities Produces PBOM Addendums and other schedules for customer submittal.
Focal for all estimates, proposal substantiation, PBOM development, and audit files Responsible to ensure compliance with FAR/TINA requirements on proposal substantiation, basis of estimates, fact-finding, and negotiations

(15%) Maintains pricing systems and procedures.
Collects, analyzes and stores data for estimating and analysis.
Keeps current with federal acquisition (FAR) regulations and customer requirements.
Assists in developing, maintaining and monitoring estimating and estimating standards, procedures and processes.
Conceives and plans process improvement projects involving the development of new approaches and methods to attain objectives.
May provide input to department objectives and long-range goals.
Keeps current with programs, customers and Aerojet program team.

Supports systems and procedures audits.

Knowledge of basic mathematics and statistics, analytical aptitude, strong oral and written communication skills.
Requires familiarity with estimating and pricing procedures, audit methods.
Manufacturing, material planning, finance or supply chain background or knowledge of the processes.
Understands both Manufacturing and Engineering Drawings/BOMs or Part lists
MS Office skills including Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint
Intermediate level Excel knowledge (SUMIF, VLOOKUP, combination formulas, etc.).
Understanding of applicable FAR regulations plus a strong knowledge of current TINA disclosure requirements.
Requires a willingness and ability to work extended hours when proposal schedules necessitate.
Experience and knowledge with EBS ProPricer or other pricing software a plus.

Familiarity with aerospace rocket motor program materials and manufacturing processes is a plus.
Material estimating in Aerospace, government contracting environment. Good excel skills. Good with data organization and in writing estimating rationale

Bachelor's degree in engineering, finance, business management or manufacturing operations discipline and six (6) or more years directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
