Test Engineer

Description:
Test Engineer reports to the Test Engineering Manager the Temporary Test Engineer is responsible for the execution of testing for the certification and design verification of aircraft components. Also responsible for the design of test equipment and associated interfaces, and for the analysis and interpretation of certification and developmental tests for new and modified aircraft components. Applies select engineering techniques to solve problems, conduct tests and make design recommendations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plans and oversees the successful execution of delegated tests and associated tasks
• Operates hydraulic and pneumatic test systems through automated control and Data Acquisition systems to execute testing of test units and/or components and assemblies
• Records and analyzes test data using Data Acquisition systems for design development, regulatory certification requirements, standardization, and/or quality control of product
• Writes and reviews test plans, project instructions and drawings in support of testing
• Designs and develops requisite test support equipment or structures necessary to execute testing, including creation of all related models and drawings
• Drafts detail drawings or sketches for parts fabrication by machine, metal or wood shops
• Devises, plans, and assembles new or modified electromechanical components or assemblies, such as industrial equipment and machinery, power equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components, machine tools, and measuring instruments for testing
• Participates as a team member in defining engineering approaches and in planning and scheduling work to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
• Plans, directs preparation of, and assists in the fabrication and assembly of test parts, test equipment and test setups as necessary
• Provides technical leadership to other test engineers and technicians as necessary
• Develops and records test procedures and results, analyzes numerical and graphical data, and provides recommendations for changes in product or test method as required
• Analyzes indicated and calculated test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives, and modifies or adjusts test equipment to meet specifications as necessary
• Assists in developing test specifications, procedures, or objectives and in developing potential solutions to design challenges such as part redesign, substitution of material or parts, or rearrangement of parts and/or subassemblies
• May be required to assist in programming of automated test control and Data Acquisition systems
• Other related duties may be assigned as required



• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field from a four-year college or university
• Three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 3D modeling experience
