Primary responsibilities involve analysis of aided inertial navigation systems of various fidelities, including navigation and tactical grade Embedded GPS/INS, radar tracking/MEMS and precision landing systems such as JPALS. Applicant must be able to analyze navigation system performance in simulation, laboratory and flight testing, and resolve navigation system anomalies observed in simulation, lab, van and flight test. Duties also involve performing sensor trade studies and sensor selection, implementation of INS aiding and alignment methods, defining requirements and interface description, hardware characterization and testing, development of navigation algorithms and software, and characterization of navigation sensors for simulation models incorporating dynamics and environmental effects.

Qualifications include:


•Applied knowledge of navigation and tactical grade Inertial Measurement Units and Inertial Navigation System


•Experience developing or modifying Matlab, SIMULINK and C


•Experience in navigation design and performance analysis related to aerospace vehicles


•GPS and GPS augmentation methods


•Applied knowledge of optimal estimation techniques such as the Extended Kalman filter and unscented Kalman filters, and analysis of random processes.


•Experience using GPS both as a navigation aiding source and standalone


•Experience in the ways in which GPS can be compromised, degraded or jammed, and mitigation methods for these cases


•Experience in development of modeling and simulation tools, especially Covariance Analysis and Monte Carlo simulation


•Applied knowledge of various navigation sensor systems such as JPALS, Radar, differential GPS and MEMs IMUs.


•Experience working as part of a GNC team and understanding of the role navigation plays


Qualifications Essential Qualifications Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years of experience with a masters degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education. Must have a complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties. Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems. Must have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one engineering area; and, lead a team of less experienced professional employees on semi-routine tasks. Able to work extended hours as required. A Professional Engineering License is desirable.
Additional Qualifications •Demonstrates a detailed and extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with some experience in project leadership.

•Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with other departments, customers, government representatives, and/or professionals; the capability of representing the organization as a prime technical contact; and, the ability to provide leadership and guidance to less experienced professionals.

•Must be customer focused and able to work on a self- initiated basis or in a team environment and able to work extended hours and travel as required.

•A Professional Engineering License, original work(s) published in professional engineering journals, invited to present one or more original works to an engineering symposium, and invited and/or participated on an engineering review panel are desirable.
