Lead Laser Controls Senior Software Developer

Chipton-Ross is seeking a Sr. Software Developer Lead capable of leading the development of the High Energy Laser control systems, signal and image processing programs.
This individual will also lead new business pursuits related to both airborne active and passive multi-spectral EO/IR sensors for surveillance, targeting, laser acoustic signal processing, 3D LIDAR image formation and mapping, and target recognition located in Rancho Bernardo, CA.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide technical leadership to a software development team for High Energy Laser control system development.
Manage schedules and report progress to program leadership.
Responsible for leading the development of High Energy Laser control systems including leading a team of developers, developing a system architecture that includes subsystem and segment interfaces, such as battle management, safety, and fire control.
Specify throughput, processing architecture, and I/O bandwidth requirements.
Support field tests.
Provide schedule, tasks, and work definitions for software implementation.
Represent GA-EMS LAS SWIPE group to customers internal and external on technical approach and schedule.
Identify risks and solutions necessary to meet demanding program schedules, recommend approach that moderate risk while meeting overall performance requirements.
Provide technical briefings to internal and external customers.
Provide technical documents on design and performance analyses.
Performs other duties as assigned of required.


Essential Qualifications:
Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in computer science, information systems or related discipline and progressive software development experience as follows; fifteen or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, thirteen or more years of experience with a masters degree, or ten or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
Must have a detailed and extensive expertise of software development concepts, principles, and theory and have applied that knowledge in the development of new principles and concepts.
Demonstrated project and/or program leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established project deadlines or milestones.
Must possess the ability to contribute to the development of new concepts and principles; resolve unusually complex problems; serve as spokesperson on projects and/or programs; and be an expert in one or more areas of software development.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective leadership interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
Customer focused, formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced software development problems.
Must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment.


Hard Requirements:
Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in computer science, information systems or related discipline and progressive software development experience as follows; fifteen or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, thirteen or more years of experience with a masters degree, or ten or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance is required.
The successful candidate will have a wide range of experience developing complicated software systems distributed among heterogeneous computing environments.
Demonstrated knowledge of VxWorks and Linux is required.
In-depth knowledge of embedded hardware and software is required.
Extensive knowledge of C and C++ is required.
