Duties:


Performs safety engineering assignments requiring a wide application of advanced principles, theories, and concepts in the field plus a working knowledge of other related disciplines. This position will have a prominent role within the Environmental Health and Safety Team and will work closely with the Operations and Facilities departments.

Essential Job Functions:

25% - Develops safety procedures to protect employee health and safety and that comply with applicable safety standards for a wide variety of processes and situations



25% - Uses a variety of computer software to manage safety data, analyze trends, and generate compliance reports



20% - Identifies, evaluates, and recommends corrective action on unusual safety hazards requiring special safety considerations



15% - Provides Ergonomic evaluations and recommendations for employees in both manufacturing and office environments



10% - Conduct safety training to small or large groups from prepared safety training packages



5% - Reviews new legislation or regulations affecting the safe operation of equipment, facilities, etc. and determines safety implications



Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

This position will typically work under office conditions where the noise level in the work environment is low. However, moderate travel within manufacturing and testing areas is required. The individual may occasionally be exposed to outside conditions, moving mechanical parts, tight or precarious places, vibrations, chemicals, hazardous materials and noise. The use of Personal Protective Equipment and the ability to lift up to thirty-five pounds is required.

Skills:
Ability to set goals and prioritize work activities with minimal supervision. Continuously demonstrate high commitment to safety through personal actions.

Safety Professional Certification is highly desirable.


Education:
BS degree in Safety or Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering preferred) and 5 years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. *Requires U.S. Citizenship*

Safety Professional Certification is highly desirable.
