AFP Programmer

Description:
The AFP Programmer will establish project plans for continuous improvement activities, perform automated fiber placement (AFP) programming on assigned machines, develop tool path code posts and work with the technicians to assure programs and processes are understood and correctly implemented. Candidate must be experienced in CATIA, SOLIDWORKS, VERISURF, VCP, VCS and other design and numerical programming software.

Specific Responsibilities:
• Develop AFP programs that will produce design compliant hardware.
• Ensure that new and existing AFP Programs are implemented/updated within established procedures function properly, meet specifications, and schedule objectives.
• Support the technicians to assure that AFP programs are validated before going into production
• Provides technical support in solving product quality problems with new and existing products
• Provide ongoing reports to department manager regarding project progress and project status
• Develop AFP programs that minimize material waste and technician trim time for ply placement
• Utilize VERISERF and VCP validation software and tools
• Stay current with software updates, provide training to partners and lead continuous improvement.

Minimum Requirements:
• B. S. degree or higher in an engineering field, such as mechanical, electrical, aerospace, computer, etc.
• Two years of work experience as an AFP programmer in custom manufacturing with composites, metals, manufacturing processes and/or tooling experience.
• Intermediate to advance experience utilizing VCP and VERISURF
• Intermediate to advanced experience in creating post processing code for translation of VCP to AFP machine language
• Design experience with CATIA V5 or equivalent computer aided design software.
• Ability to support multiple tasks while ensuring timely and cost-effective completion
• Experience operating AFP equipment
• U. S. Person Required.
