Training Specialist

PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking a Training Specialist in Panama City, Florida

Part-time contract assignment, 20 hours per week. 

Job Purpose

To develop training programs and materials, including participant manuals and workbooks, facilitator guides, computer based training material, job aids, evaluations, etc. This position will work closely with internal and external customers to customize and implement organizational training initiatives. This position also provides general human resources support including record keeping, data entry and reporting requirements for site.

Principal Accountabilities

  1. Design, plan, coordinate, conduct and evaluate training programs (both internal and outsourced) for target audiences. 
  2. Conduct needs analysis, determine learning objectives, competency indicators, and design course content. 
  3. Assess the most effective instructional method for achieving learning objectives.
  4. Assess and recommend opportunities to implement face-to-face learning and computer-based training. 
  5. Design plan, procedures and processes for the administration of training and development; monitoring employee progress and program effectiveness. 
  6. Maintain record keeping for technical and required training including re-qualification. Respond to requests for training documentation.
  7. Work closely with and provide guidance to on-the-job (OJT) instructors to assist in direct coaching and training of hourly personnel. 
  8. Facilitate new employee onboarding for the site.  
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s Degree in Training and Development, Human Resources, Business Communications or related field preferred, and/or a combination of 5 to 7 years of education and relevant experience in lieu of degree. 

Experience and Qualifications

  • Three or more years of training experience in assessment, course design, development, delivery, measurement tools and reporting. 
  • Three or more years of experience in Human Resources.
  • Working knowledge of curriculum design, learning models, and training effectiveness. 
  • Work experience in a manufacturing company preferred. 
  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills; excellent oral and written English communication skills; good presentation and interpersonal skills. 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word Excel, PowerPoint) and related software applications.
  • American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) certification in Human Performance Improvement (HPI) and E-learning Courseware Certification (ECC) desirable. 
  • Ability to effectively carry out responsibilities of the position, working independently and without close supervision

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to spend long hours sitting at a work stations and using office equipment. 
  • May be required to walk or stand for brief periods
  • May be required to use stairs when elevator is not available
  • May occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move up to 25 pounds of office supplies and materials 
  • May be required to reach with arms and hands and to stoop, kneel or crouch
