Aerospace Design Engineer II

Description:
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
Develops solutions to a variety of moderate complexity or unusual engineering or technical problems or assignments requiring judgment and ingenuity to work within engineering protocols in the analysis, design and/or repair development of aircraft structures, power plant component parts, mechanical and electrical systems/structures and subsystems for commercial, military, executive, general aviation, or special purpose applications on operational aircraft.

Analyzes and interprets engineering proposals and documentation such as drawings, material and product specifications, structural repair manuals (SRMs), component maintenance manuals (CMMs) and illustrated parts lists (IPLs/IPCs) to develop design and/or repair schemes approaches. Confers with management to clarify or resolve problems.

Designs and develops and/or repairs of structural, power plant and other operational and structural components that are used in operating aircraft. This includes producing or assisting in the production of computer aided drawings and engineering reports.

Develops design and/or repair data packages and obtains FAA approvals through internal and external FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs); troubleshoot failure modes, communicate and interact with customer engineering groups and/or internal personnel for design, development and/or cost effective repair schemes and approvals.

Designs and develops analytical programs concerned with ground or flight testing, or development of acoustic, thermodynamic, or propulsion systems.

Tests models, prototypes, subassemblies, or production items to study and evaluate operational characteristics and effects of stress imposed during actual or simulated operational conditions.

Ancillary Functions and Responsibilities:

Description
-Built-In-Test (BIT) Engineer to execute BIT program on DoD System, to include BIT allocations, predictions, modeling, and Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA).
-The engineer will monitor suppliers in the development and implementation of BIT architecture, requirements and implementation.
-Conduct analysis and review of data from system and supplier test events and failures to identify issues and mature the BIT system through corrective action.
-Prepare and present at design and program reviews.
-Develop BIT DRSs and support hardware design activities.
-Support SW Engineers in the implementation of BIT requirements in SRS's.
-Generate and maintain BIT maturity metrics.
-Perform Reliability and BIT testing as necessary.
-Provide Reliability support as required.

Description:
COMPONENT INSTALLATION DESIGNER
The preferred candidate will possess a four year degree in an engineering discipline, either Mechanical or Electrical, 2000 hours CATIA design experience as well as 3 to 4 years’ experience in a design/manufacturing environment. The designer will work with a variety of engineering disciplines in a cooperative, Product Development Team format. Excellent written, oral and presentation skills as well as personal computer literacy using Microsoft Office products will be required. A working knowledge of MIL-W-5088 or AS50881 is desired.
Assignments in the Component Installation Section require the knowledge of Electrical/Mechanical drafting practices, geometric tolerancing, engineering mathematics, manufacturing practices as well as the ability to interpret equipment specifications and electrical schematics. Candidates will be responsible for the design and preparation of detail, assembly and installation drawings as required to define aircraft component and harness installations.
The candidate will tackle challenging assignments and develop unique solutions to rotorcraft Component Installation Design. Areas of design responsibility include electrical power system components, instrument panel and crew station design, antennas, lighting, airspeed systems, molded wiring assemblies and wire harness assemblies/installations.
LCA experience preferred.
