Description

ABOUT THIS POSITION

The System Engineer performs systems engineering and integration tasks in support of spacecraft pre-launch, launch and early orbit (L&EO), and on-orbit operations and support services.

This position will support operational evaluation and acceptance of software releases and hardware upgrades.This includes planning and preparation, operation of the equipment, performance evaluation, and risk and suitability assessments.

The System Engineer will also work to analyze proposed missions to determine their compatibility with existing AFSCN or other control networks and system resources and provide evaluation of ground system and network status.

Responsibilities include:

•Analyze satellite ground systems loading and architecture/infrastructure and recommend improvements


•Perform analysis on ground system usage to forecast the ability of available resources to support new space programs and other requirements


•Support analysis, development and modification of ground system and AFSCN architecture


•Provide operations expertise and participate in system architecture Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and Engineering Working Group (EWG) meetings


•Apply operations expertise to identify limitations and system deficiencies, risks and provide prioritized operations requirements


•Perform other duties as assigned


Local candidates preferred.

Qualifications

•BS degree in Engineering with at least 3 years of related experience. Specific contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail.


•Some shift work may be required

Additional Qualifications:

•Knowledge and understanding of the Air Force Satellite Control Network


•Experience using multiple command and control platforms and architectures e.g. OS Comet, Horizon, Neptune CGA, ITOS, GMSEC utilities


•Experience in C# scripting and use of Visual Studio
