Mechanical Engineer - Entry Level

Description:
Job Title: Mechanical Engineer I
Location: Portland, OR 97217
Duration: 24 Months
Job Functions:
• The main function of this role is to provide a technical interface between Product Engineering and the Manufacturing Development Center.
• Position at MDC is at center of campus and get to work on all new designs 3-5 years ahead of production. Can also get to see the products get physically built and designs evolve. The work feeds directly into making these things more “manfucturable” and profitable. Work is enjoyable because you get to work with different groups in order to complete the projects at hand. Will also gain multiple perspectives and how it impacts different areas within the Organization. Good exposure to the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Interface with Product Engineering on designs for new Product Projects:
 Secure emerging design information from Product Engineering
 Understand difference between B/C/D sample level designs
 Ensure compatible maturity levels of parts used in Mockup / PoD
• Procure parts and assemblies required for Mockup / PoD:
 Provide data to suppliers for rapid prototypes
 Provide guidance to MDC Technicians procuring / fabricating prototype parts
• Problem Solving
 Assist MDC Technicians with problem identification, documentation, and resolution related to new product projects

Required background experience and skills:
• BS degree in electrical, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering, or commensurate work experience.
• 0-2 years of experience in product engineering design areas required.
• Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability.
• Team player and detail oriented.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and common computations.
• Siemens NX experience preferred, but CAD experience is okay.
