Electrical/Avionics Engineer

Description:
Support the Electrical & Avionics Lead Engineer and the overall product development Integrated Product Team (IPT) in the electrical, avionics, and software engineering discipline. This position will entail successful integration of electrical and avionics systems into current and proposed new aircraft designs. The person filling this position will be required to produce electrical drawings such as wiring diagrams, harness assemblies, schematics, and installation drawings either manually or using AutoCAD. In addition, the person will prepare documentation in support of FAA certification activities.

Essential Job Functions:
• Create and revise system specifications, system schematics, wiring diagrams, and component installation drawings.
• Review equipment manufacturer installation manuals for the integration of components into the aircraft design.
• Research component specifications for installation into aircraft with the appropriateness of design and installation and with respect to environmental considerations.
• Work with internal and external customers to provide investigation, analysis, and troubleshooting, and resolution of issues.
• Create and Revise System Description and Requirements Documents).
• Create and Revise Part 23 Certification Documentation (FHA, PSSA, SSA, AV/EL Substantiation reports, Test Plans and Reports, PSCPs, etc…).
• Generate high-quality test plans, reports, and substantiation documents.
• Participate in general IPT project meetings as required during the development of a specific project.
• Support the IPT, as required, in the preparation of material for presentation at design and program reviews.

Required:
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows file operations and Microsoft Office and be adept at data entry into existing spreadsheets and/or creating new spreadsheets.
• Familiarity with 3D and 2D CAD and Schematic Design, Mentor Graphics Capital Harness and Siemens NX preferred, Fault Tree Software (Windchill Preferred).

Preferred:
• An understanding and working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 23 and associated guidance material as it pertains to this technical discipline is preferred.
• Ability to be able to move in and out of the office/plant without restrictions during on-airplane troubleshooting activities.
• Familiarity with Garmin G3000 avionic system software and/or aircraft integration is beneficial.

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years of experience

Propulsion/Mechanical Systems Engineer

Description:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Produce installation layouts, component designs, solid models, drawings, engineering orders (EOs) and specifications to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification and Company standards
• Prepare engineering data for FAA certification such as specifications, test plans, substantiation reports, and design configuration documents
• Review data and support the process of selecting vendors for the purchase of components that meet specifications and design intent
• Review and validate installations and components through simulation, analysis, and test data interpretation
• Support production and/or experimental hangar personnel in the troubleshooting of assembly and operational problems
• Understand program requirements and create designs to fulfill the program requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum of three (3) years experience with propulsion systems installation development and certification
• General knowledge of all phases of aircraft design, analysis, testing, approval, as well as hands-on knowledge of FAA certification procedures and regulations, is required to perform the duties of this position
• Proficiency in CAD modeling and design practices using Siemens NX and engineering configuration management using Teamcenter

Preferred:
• An understanding and working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 23
• Pilot experience, airframe and powerplant (A&P) mechanic, and/or understanding of flight crew duties and responsibilities is beneficial

Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Description:
Position Summary:
• The individual in this position will support the needs of the product development Integrated Product Team (IPT) by providing a critical link between engineering and manufacturing to ensure lifecycle completion from design release to finished part for proof-of-concept development and conforming test articles.
• This position will entail heavy involvement in the design phase to identify and solve problems and influence effective part definition from a Design for Manufacture (DFM) perspective. Beyond drawing release, the person in this position will be required to interface with all downstream functions as needed to support completion of production work orders, definition of fabrication processes, determination of material requirements, definition of detail part and / or assembly tooling, completion of NC programming, definition of fabrication timelines, and execution of fabrication culminating with ensuring the fabricated part is in compliance with the design requirements.
• The person filling this key role will be located with the IPT to maximize team interface and dedicated focus but shall have hands-on experience with the company manufacturing processes and the various work-centers.

Required Hands-On Experience:
• Small airplane tooling for detail parts fabrication, sub-assemblies, and airframe construction
• Fabrication of machined parts and sheet metal parts
• Airframe assembly and systems-level troubleshooting
• Influencing design through Design For Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) perspective
• Part fabrication inspection / first-article / quality approval


Essential Functions:
• Work closely with IPT engineering functions during concept design stage to influence design for manufacturability with due consideration of company Aircraft material and fabrication capabilities.
• Spearhead efforts to identify and resolve complex material and manufacturing challenges while maintaining the highest quality standards pertaining to machined parts and sheet metal parts.
• Strategically optimize work sequencing and workflow through machines and work centers.
• Determine make versus buy decisions changing production methods to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
• Coordinate and manage outsourcing of critical components, maintaining strong relationships with external vendors.
• Conceptualize and lead the development of advanced tooling and fabrication designs for aircraft components.
• Provide budgeting information and project updates/status to management.
• Utilize advanced computer-aided design (CAD) tools for layouts and line flow optimization.
• Have hands-on experience with, and capability to operate, manufacturing fabrication equipment.
• Conduct in-depth workflow, capacity, quantitative, and throughput analyses.
• Conduct comprehensive cost analyses and maintain complex charts for strategic decision-making.
• Prepare and maintain various charts.
• Foster effective communication by interfacing with machine operators, management, and external vendors.
• Participate and/or Facilitate Kaizen events and train others on how to facilitate them.
• Execute and promote problem solving to all levels of the organization.
• Understand product development program requirements and provide critical interface and support to fulfill the program requirements.
• Support the IPT in the preparation of material for presentation at design and program reviews.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
• Bachelors degree in mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Avionics, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive engineering experience, with a focus on aircraft manufacturing.
• Proficiency in computer-aided drafting (CAD) modeling and design practices using Siemens NX and engineering configuration management using Teamcenter, together with the Microsoft Office suite of products.
• Demonstrated expertise in using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of successfully overcoming complex challenges.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral.
• Proven ability to lead and collaborate in a team-oriented environment.

Physical Demands:
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The role may require moderate to heavy physical effort, consisting of occasionally lifting and/or moving materials of varying weights.
