Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer - FTP is responsible for all manufacturing engineering aspects of defining, creating, and maintaining written FTP documents to include defining tooling, equipment, test equipment, and procedures for producing and testing aircraft at the client facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review and approve all Engineering drawings and models for assigned A/C areas, ensuring parts, assemblies, and/ or installations are manufacturable
• Define, review, and approve all FT requirements creating, maintaining, and writing FTP documents
• Define, review, and approve all FT tooling, equipment, and test equipment
• Manage all Design for Manufacturability Requests for assigned A/C area(s) reviewing/ creating and approving all internal and external submissions
• Review and approve all CR’s (Change Requests) to determine positive/ negative impacts to Production by coordinating with the various departments within client
• Review major Engineering and/or router changes with shop floor at the start of the respective Position and/ or at each Block Point change
• Create/ revise Master Routers for new/ revised Engineering for assigned A/C areas

Education, Work Experience, Certification, and/or Licensure:

• B.S.M.E., B.S.A.E., B.S.I.E., or B.S. Mfg. Eng./ Eng. Tech. preferred, but not required
• 10+ years’ of experience performing, defining, and testing aircraft with complex functional systems including mechanical and fly-by-wire systems
• A combination of experience and education is acceptable

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must have knowledge of, but not limited to:
o Mechanical/ electrical rigging and troubleshooting of flight controls, landing gear, and hydraulics
o Loading and verification of airborne software
o Installing and troubleshooting avionics systems including TCAS, Radar, AFCS, FADEC, etc.
o Ability to review 3D drawings and models for Engineering designs and specifications to ensure manufacturability and process capabilities
• Working knowledge of computer systems, programs, etc. including, but not limited to, the following:
o CATIA V5/ V6 experience is a plus.
o Experience programming robotics a plus.
o Router/ Work Instruction Creation and Maintenance in an advanced ERP/MRP system.
o SAP experience is a plus.
o Teamcenter Manufacturing/ Process Planning creating MBOM’s and BOP’s is a plus.
• Proven ability to trouble-shoot defects, manufacturing errors, and time consumption/ learning curve issues to improve shop floor performance.
• Ability to analyze a variety of engineering data to help determine how to meet company objectives
• Program/Project management experience as a Mfg. Engineer:
o Experience with Program/ Project management in a fast paced work environment having reported progress to peers, direct supervision, and upper management with experience in plant floor scheduling, creating project files, Gantt charts, process flow charts, track job progress, assign resources, etc.
o Proven capability to direct the work of other Mfg. Engineers to support the defined build sequence a must.
• Quality Engineering experience as a Mfg. Engineer:
o Proven ability to define inspection methods and criteria as well as interpret results to drive processes per Six Sigma (or equivalent) standards.
o Six Sigma certification a plus.
o Strong knowledge of AS9102 processes, procedures, and methods a must with experience writing or creating a plus.
• Purchasing experience as a Mfg. Engineer:
o Ability to perform vendor cost analysis versus internal costs to determine best location for manufacturing.
o Experience in supplier selection and management including directing/ addressing supplier concerns from a technical standpoint.
o Ability to read and understand LTA’s, P.O.’s, T’s & C’s, etc. a plus.
• Motivated self-starter able to work under minimal supervision.
• Experience in an IPT (Integrated Product Team) format is a must with experience as a formal or informal leader a plus.
• Promote and contribute to overall team environment, harmony, etc. is a must.

Physical Requirements:

• Incumbents may be routinely exposed to equipment operational noise heat-cold-dust, and/or aircraft equipment, parts, or fuel odors
• Incumbents may be required to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged time periods with no restrictions, as required by job duties
• Work in a safe and professional manner while adhering to all regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, State, and Federal regulations, etc.)
• Read, hear, speak, and see with no restrictions, as required by job duties
• Comprehend and adhere to management directions and/or safety instructions with no restrictions
• Effectively communicate in Business English language
• Pull, push, carry, lift, or move items up to 10 lbs. throughout the work shift without assistance, as required by job duties
• Pull, push, carry, lift or move materials/people/items/equipment weighing up to 50lbs or more during the work shift, with the use of Company provided “reach assistance technology” or “movement assist technology” (fork-lifts, pallet jacks, pulleys, dolly’s, robotics reach equipment, people movers etc.), as required by job duties
