Product Design Engineer - Agricultural (KS)

Description:
This Client uses Creo 4 and Windchill for their CAD package, so that experience would be helpful, but any 3D modeling experience could work.

We need to fill 3 different spots:

2nd Position: focused more on test and validation (this one could be a mechanical engineering technician)

This test person needs to have some machinery background so they can operate the equipment as well as build and test it.

Summary
Designs, develops, improves, and tests agricultural products/equipment and provides engineering support for all aspects of assigned product line to ensure functionality, quality, cost, and schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities-include the following. Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.

• Follows all Great Plains policies and OSHA safety regulations and wears prescribed safety and protective equipment.
• Assists with the development of the product design, manufacturing, and functionality.
• Identifies any problems with the implementation or available resources that may affect the schedule or budget and communicates such problems accordingly.
• Analyzes the risks of a new design or process and communicates results to the engineering manager.
• Provides support to manufacturing to ensure product is fabricated and assembled based on the intended functionality of the design.
• Develops and maintains procedures and processes that support core machine technologies.
• Interfaces with others in the organization and customers to jointly determine customer needs and solutions.
• Designs products and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software.
• Supervises preparation of product layout and detailed drawings and schematics.
• Implements the product design within the schedule and budget parameters.
• Supervises manufacturing or building of prototype product or system.
• Evaluate field testing and recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
• Plans and develops experimental test programs.
• Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
• Confers with research and other engineering personnel and prepares design modifications as required.
• Evaluates engineering test results for possible application to development of systems or other uses.
• Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product to engineering manager.
• Recommends changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew to engineering manager.

Education and/or Experience
Level 6: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills
Level 4: Ability to analyze journals, technical procedures, or regulations. Write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills
Level 5: Mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, permutations, frequency distribution, test reliability and validity, and analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Reasoning Ability
Level 5: Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
