Lead System Engineer

Location: Windsor Locks, CT
Pay Rate: $75/hr
Duration: 1 year W2 contract
Shift: First, 8:00am to 5:00pm
**MUST be a U.S. CITIZEN**

Description/Comment:
An EMU Systems Engineer is a versatile professional with a base degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering and experience in one or more disciplines such as electro-mechanical design, test, mechanical design, or analysis. Cross-functional experience is highly desired.

This Company at Windsor Locks was originally the Prime Contractor for NASA’s Extravehicular Mobility Unit and is currently responsible for the life support system (backpack) and other hardware. The EMU is a long standing system that has seen operation since 1981. As such, the ability to understand and build from previous analysis, design and fleet leader assessments is paramount. Reading engineering drawings, assessing operations and test sheets, as well as assessing data from ground and flight are all key abilities. EMU Systems Engineers are involved in assessing proposed engineering changes, making specification changes/updates, certification and recertification testing and reporting, customer interfacing for real time issues, monitoring system performance on EVA and many other related tasks, often involving customer interfacing.

Ability to perform gas and fluid analysis is important. Previous experience with High Pressure O2 is a big plus. Knowledge of the typical suite of MS products is required. Other software knowledge, including heat transfer, fluid and gas flow is a plus.

Both strong oral and written skills are required. Verbal and oral skills should be professional in character and precise. Candidates must be able to work in a small, highly scrutinized, tight knit team with the goal of crew safety as their defining characteristic.

-Bachelors degree or higher
-Special NASA drug screen will be required post-employment
