Johnson Service Group (JSG) is seeking a contract position for an Electrical Engineer to work in Slidell, LA location.

About This Role
As an electrical engineer, you will perform a variety of assignments including conceptual design, engineering analysis, detailed sub-system electrical design, integration, test, and manufacturing and field support. A strong candidate will possess a broad range of engineering skills and could perform as an individual contributor or as a team lead. You will have the opportunity to work in a multi-functional team environment with a diverse array of exciting technologies and products that directly support our nation’s war fighters.

Responsibilities

Perform detailed design of integrated electrical and communications systems on vehicles.
Perform analysis, integration, and testing.
Contribute to concept development as part of internal cross-functional design teams, including prototyping and production support.
Prepare high-quality formal engineering documentation such as drawings, presentations, specifications, design presentations to customers, test plans, and test reports.
Support proposal activity, providing input to cost estimates and risk assessments.
May lead a design team.
Will plan product development, produce technical white papers, and brief management/customers on planning and progress.

Education & Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in electrical, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering with 2 or more years’ experience is required, or a master’s degree with 1 year of experience.


Requirement

Extensive design and integration experience in military and/or commercial systems, control systems, EMI/EMC, power and safety.
Proven track record of innovation and problem solving in cross functional teams.
Familiarity with Systems Engineering, and Hardware-in-the-Loop simulation & test is required.
Design and integration experience in some or all the products and practices below:
Cable/Harness design
Hardware Safety and Risk analysis
RF link budgets
Hardware Environmental and Electromagnetic qualification to military standards
HALT and ESS testing
GPS and RF communication systems integration

Client is seeking engineers of all disciplines to support the United States Marine Corps Advanced Reconnaissance Vehicle (ARV) program. For this program, client has developed the Cottonmouth® ARV, a recon vehicle to be feared and a force-multiplier armed to the fangs with advanced full-spectrum reconnaissance and surveillance sensors. It’s expertly designed to defeat threats beyond line of sight and comes complete with cutting-edge technologies that will keep adversaries up at night. Cottonmouth was developed using a Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) that is Ground Vehicle Operating System (GVOS) based employing the Tactical Assault Kit Extended (TAK-X) framework for easy capability integration. Perform hardware engineering activities within a team of Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineers.
• Develop imaginative, thorough, practicable technical solutions to a wide range of difficult Mechanical Engineering problems.
• Contribute to concept development as part of internal cross-functional design teams, including prototyping, production, and test support.
• Perform detailed design of mechanical structures and subsystems using solid modeling, requirements analysis, trade studies, mechanical engineering analysis (including structural, dynamics, and thermal), drafting and tolerance analysis, and human interface design.
• Prepare high-quality formal engineering documentations such as drawings, specifications, design presentations to customers, test plans, and test reports.
• Support proposal activity, providing input to cost estimates and risk assessments.

Qualifications:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including preparation of design documentation.
• Effective presentation skills.
• Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Visio).
• Desire and ability to operate in a team environment is required.
• Desire and ability to lead teams or individuals in design, manufacturing, or troubleshooting taskings.
• Experience with mechanism development, generating Free Body Diagrams, performing basic static/dynamic/structural hand calculations, prototyping, packaging, performance specifications, material tests, and research investigations.
• Familiarity with and ability to use computer-aided design tools is required; Solidworks and Autocad are preferred, MagicDraw and Jira are a plus.
• Experience designing tests for military environmental, shock, and vibration qualifications.

• Using technical acumen and problem-solving skills toward the execution of systems engineering tasks – including (but not limited to) requirements analysis, impact assessments, systems modeling (SysML), trade studies, requirements derivation, design review support, integration planning, test, verification, risk management, and engineering analysis.
• Preparing and presenting systems engineering work products to internal review teams and external customers at program milestone reviews.

• Driving tasks to completion independently – aided by appropriate supervision and mentoring.

Qualifications:

• Experience in a Department of Defense (DoD) environment is preferred
• Experience or certifications in Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) is a plus
• Experience with Windows and/or Unix operating systems is a plus
• Effective and efficient writing and presentation skills

Avionics Systems Engineer

Description:
The Avionics Systems Engineer is responsible for developing requirements and MBSE models to support developing and integrating software components related to the control of air vehicle subsystems for the Avionics IPT on the program.

What you’ll be doing as an Avionics Systems Engineer:

· Develop architecture models for software components.

· Write high level requirements for software components.

· Perform SysML Modeling in MagicDraw/Cameo.

· Generate system functional requirements from stakeholder expectation.

· Validate and verify system requirements.

· Coordinate with Internal and External teams, suppliers, and peers to generate and execute project/design plans and reviews.

· Develop test cases to verify the system under test.

· Troubleshoot and resolve system integration/verification issues.

· Manage and coordinate issues, problem reports, and change requests to closure.

· Coordinate design changes and deliveries with Safety, Security, and Certification organizations.

· Ensure timely delivery of systems requirements, integrated validation/verification activities, and issue resolution.

· Escalate issues that need additional engineering or business leadership assistance in a timely manner.

Skills You Bring to This Role:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science is required. Mechanical or Other Engineering degrees may be considered with applicable experience.

· At least 5+ years’ work experience in similar engineering environment but hiring at all skill levels for this position, 10+ years preferred

· Experience with engineering processes including requirements definition, requirements allocation, requirements validation, requirements verification, integration, embedded software, electronic systems, FAA/EASA/NAA certification, cyber and system safety.

· Experience with DO-297, DO-178 and/or DO-331 process assurance experience is a plus

· Prior experience working on A653 partition-based operating system is a plus

· Able to communicate directly with senior leadership inside and outside the company.

· Self-motivated and able to track and report performance to cost and schedule.

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)

· Experience in developing or designing within an Avionics Environment

· Experience with MBSE tools (eg EA Sparx, IBM Rhapsody, Magic Draw), CM tools (eg SVN, Clearcase, git, Dimensions)
